"Our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad!" Psalms 126:2,3

The Dorothy Dress~ Simplicity 4139
Today I have a fun surprise for y'all: a commission to make my adorable little cousin a Dorothy costume! To make the dress, I used Simplicity pattern 4139, view A:
And, if you think their little model is cute, just wait 'till you see mine! :D
The Dorothy dress pattern consists of three parts: a white undershirt, gingham apron bib with straps, and full, gathered skirt.
The skirt of the dress falls below-the-knee, with a contrasting bias strip along the edge for interest. I also ended up attaching a crinoline underneath to help the skirt stand out more.
The undershirt is made up in white cotton, gathered into a high, round collar, and finished off with a length of blue rick rack to add interest. Toldja my sister was adorable, right? :) Just as an F.Y.I., the dress was made up in a size 8 to fit my cousin, but my sister is only a size 6. Just so you know the pattern doesn't run large! :)
And a view of the back. The back bodice closes with a zipper and two hooks and eyes. The bias straps are tacked to the top of the apron bib (to keep the bib in place), as well as attaching to the waistline by two large buttons.
The sleeves are puffed, with blue rick rack to match the neckline.
And now for the head-to-toe shots! I shall let the photos speak for themselves....
There you have it! What do y'all think of my little Dorothy? :D
